Malaga Villages Information: MANILVA


Manilva

Until 1797, Manilva was part of the town of Casares.
For most of its history, Manilva has been drooted to fishing and agriculture, in
particular the cultivation of the grapes fivm which the rich must jizmous throughout the surrounding area is extracted. However, little by little, Manilva has become a centre of tourist activity, and today boasts jizcilities such as housing estates, La Duquesa golf course and a Pleasure Harbour, as well as being the scene of major sports tourism projects of significant international interest.

Monumental and cultural
Important monuments in Manilva's history include: SANTA ANA PARISH CHURCH.
LA DUQUESA CASTLE: This stands on a site once occupied by a Roman villa, part
of the materials of which were reused to build the castle, in whose shadow the district of
the same name sprang up.
THE CHULLERA TOWERS: There are two minaret towers in Chullera, one is coneshaped while the other, older tower, with its square base, was built in Nazari times.

Sun and sand
The visitor, who has the possibility of using the near international airports of Malaga or Gibraltar, can relax under the sun in any of its beautiful coves, and enjoy its well-cared beaches.
Fine sand, and clean and crystalline water beaches, that have all type of facilities, are awarded with the European Blue Flag.

Cuisine
Also, the cordiality and affection of its people allow the traveller, to share its culture, gastronomy and traditions. A mediterranean cuisine, of appetizing dishes and filled with tasty sea and country products awaits us together with an exquisite wine, product of its centennial grapevines.
The most prestigios restaurants offer us succulent dishes, such as delicious fried fish and good meat.

Rural
The extensive network of country routes to be ftund in the district is ideal ftr trips on horseback, on ftot or by bicycle. Tourist Routes:
1.- Las Lomas de Miraflores is characterised by its beautifUl, broad landscape.
The tracks of the small animals that inhabit the area can be seen all around along the way.
2.- The route known as Cuesta del Molino, on the old road to Casares, takes us to the river. This route, which is steeped in history, is one of the most interesting and attractive.
3. - The route to the stream, which leads to the narrow pass known as Canuto de la Urrera. Many caves are to be ftund in its walls.
4.- Heading along the coastfrom the Castle, we come to Chullera. The Loma del Negro route takes us to the part of the town that lies further inland The Campo de Gibraltar region can be seen in the distance.

Recreation and leisure

The "Puerto Deportivo de La Duquesa" (The Harbour Club La Duquesa) is with no doubt the place with more tourism and has a complete one modern net of leisure and amusement activities.
Numerous high quality hotel resorts, open their doors to pnfect holidays. Beautiful residential resorts with reasonable prices, await those who wish to make of Manilva a place of holidays in the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun).

Location
The municipality of Manilva, situated on the Mediterranean Coast, is a privileged town of the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun), which is equidistant between two great tourist centres of Andalusia: Sotogrande and Marbella. Only twenty minutes far from Puerto Banus, and with an annual average temperature of 18°C, one can reach Manilva by fast highway or one very modern motorway.
